The Gene Ontology component can be used to find expression patterns from genes within a certain go-term. Using this component together with other components such as the gene graph viewer or Grouping window can effectively reveal expression changes correlated with molecular function, cellular compartment or biological process.
The data in this analysis component is read from a GO file that comes with J-Express, but can be downloaded from the GO consortium and updated manually as frequently as needed. The consortium pages also contains mapping files for a wide range of organisms. These mapping files are necessary to successfully map the genes in your experiment to GO terms. You should make sure you have access to a file that can be used to map your data to GO terms or that such file exists in the Gene Ontology consortium web site.
