Data can be downloaded from ArrayExpress in different formats. The data are normally available in raw data format, as a ready filtered and normalised tab-delimited text file and as MAGE-ML.

Here follows a short explanation to how you can download MAGE-ML from ArrayExpress:

1. Go to they ArrayExpress repository and find the experiment you want to download by searching or browsing the Experiments.
2. The last column of the list of experiments is called More and it contains a link called >>AE. Click on this link.
3. In the page that appears there is a link with MAGE-ML files called .gz click on this link to download the MAGE-ML files.
4. Unzip the downloaded file.
5. The unzipped file is an archive with the extension .tar. The MAGE-ML must now be extracted from the archive. Right-click on the .tar file and select Extract files
6. You can now load the MAGE-ML files into J-Express.
